His work revolves around social topics of identity, expression, and mental health in masculinity. How self-expression can help to feel more confident through clothes and artifacts while remaining eco-conscious. He aims at making people smile, by bringing whole-heartedness and simple emotions, when fashion can sometimes feel so complicated and out of touch with the reality of most of the population. How to bring joy, and confidence to people through functionality and ornament by focusing on the sensibility of the textiles (but still using a significant part of second-hand textiles or deadstock) for the garment making.
Another part of Sylvain’s work is about questioning the standards of masculinity, mostly in men’s fashion. To allow for more self-love and self-expression within masculinity, he believes that a form of change can be achieved by trying to create tools for men to feel different, perhaps even new things; new views on themselves and their body.
